Can anyone tell me which Central Portal of the Chartres Cathedral the assignment is referring to? The question begins "Pretend that you are entering Chartres cathedral through the central portal. The west, north and south transepts all have a central portal. I have read the material and visited so many websites trying to find this out. I even watched a couple of YouTube videos by National Geographic about the building of the cathedral that were fascinating, so, I really enjoyed learning about the cathedral. However, I am totally frustrated trying to figure out which portal the instructor is referring to. I am also unclear as to what he/she considers architectural features. The book for instance does not mention the gargoyles which are an architecturial feature in gothic archetecture and are part of the Chartres cathedral.
