Courses close once all the exams and assignments for that course are completed and have a passing grade. If any assignments or exams do not have a passing grade you need to retake/redo them. Also to see if a course has closed click student portal then click grades if a course is closed on that page it will have a completion date and a final grade. Also even though a course is closed it will still show up under lessons untill you hide it. To hide it click lessons then on the left side of the courses name at the top of the screen you should see a link that says edit click that and it will bring you to a page where you can hide the course.
